Buy the full version
Buy the full version from inside Orbit through the Mac App Store, or restore a purchase on another Mac. The full version removes the watermark from pictures and turns on geometry export, and it takes effect as soon as the App Store confirms the purchase, with no restart. The free and full versions describes both limits.
The purchase controls appear in two places, and both lead to the same App Store purchase. They are hidden while the status reads CHECKING PURCHASE…, which means Orbit is still waiting for the App Store to answer. Wait for the status to change before you buy or restore.
Buy from the WELCOME sheet
Click the FREE VERSION chip in the toolbar, to the left of EXPORT RENDER.
The WELCOME sheet opens. The strip along its bottom shows FREE VERSION with BUY FULL VERSION and RESTORE PURCHASE beside it.
In a narrow window the chip is a small colored square. The same sheet opens each time Orbit starts, unless it starts by opening a scene or object file.
Click BUY FULL VERSION.
The button reads BUYING…, and the App Store's purchase sheet appears.
Confirm the purchase in the App Store sheet, signing in with your Apple Account if it asks.
The status and the chip change to FULL VERSION, and the buttons disappear.
BUY FULL VERSION shows the price the App Store charges in your country or region. When Orbit has not been able to reach the App Store, the button shows no price, and clicking it tries again.
Closing the App Store sheet without buying leaves Orbit as it was, with no message. A message that begins "Purchase pending approval" means someone has to approve the purchase first, as with Ask to Buy. Orbit changes to the full version by itself once it is approved.
Buy from SETTINGS
Click SETTINGS at the right end of the toolbar and scroll to PURCHASE.
The section shows the status, with BUY FULL VERSION and RESTORE PURCHASE below it.
Click BUY FULL VERSION and confirm in the App Store sheet.
PURCHASE shows FULL VERSION and a line saying that Apple handles receipts and refunds.
Restore on another Mac
The purchase belongs to the Apple Account that made it, and every Mac signed into that account can run the full version. A Mac that still shows FREE VERSION needs the purchase restored.
- Click the FREE VERSION chip, or open SETTINGS and scroll to PURCHASE.
Click RESTORE PURCHASE, and sign in with the Apple Account that bought the full version if the App Store asks.
The button reads RESTORING… while Orbit asks the App Store. When the purchase is found, the status changes to FULL VERSION.
When the account you signed in with has no purchase, Orbit says "No full-version purchase found for this Apple Account." Sign in with the account that bought it and restore again.
Orbit reads the purchase from the App Store records kept on the Mac, so once the full version is active it keeps working without an internet connection. On a Mac that has never reached the App Store, the status reads FREE VERSION until it does, so restore while the Mac is online.
After the purchase
Pictures rendered from then on have no watermark, and the EXPORT menu works whenever an object or a group is selected. Files saved before the purchase keep their marks, so render them again. A render already running when the purchase went through keeps the marks as well.
Refunds
Apple handles receipts and refunds through your App Store account, and Orbit has no refund control of its own. Once Apple refunds the purchase, the status reads FREE VERSION (REFUNDED) and the watermark and the export limit return. Everything else in Orbit keeps working, and BUY FULL VERSION buys the full version again.
If a purchase or restore does not go through, File and purchase problems lists the messages and what to do about each.
